Effects:

Uropathogenic bacteria are the main causes of inflammation of the bladder and urinary tract. Escherichia coli is the most common bacterium that causes urinary tract infections. These bacteria use fimbriae, fimbriae type 1 and fimbriae type P, to attach to the uroepithelium – the mucous membrane of the urinary tract.

ANTIADHESIVE AND ANTI-INFLAMMATORY EFFECT

S&R PACs and D-MANNOSE inhibit the adhesion of the uropathogenic bacterium Escherichia coli to the urothelial epithelium through a competitive pathway by binding to the fimbriae (types 1 and P). Fimbriae type 1 – mannose-sensitive fimbriae and type P – mannose-resistant and PACs-sensitive fimbriae.

S&R PAC^TM the patent is an exclusive mixture of cranberry that combines dry extract with powder of the whole fruit and ensures the utilization of all active components present in the phytocomplex, rich not only in protocyanides but also in organic acids, flavonoids, vitamin C, catechins, and triterpenes.

S&R PACs are type A PAC which are pharmacologically active on bacterial fimbriae (type P).

S&R PACs the mixture allows the anti-adhesive effect to be combined with the anti-inflammatory effect, thanks to the presence of organic acids such as phenolic acids and their derivatives, which are able to inhibit the inflammatory response and mediate the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines.

D-MANNOSE is a simple sugar that, once absorbed into the body, is not used, but is eliminated through the kidneys, reaching high concentrations in the urinary tract where it exerts its antibacterial effect. It has a high affinity for type 1 (mannose-sensitive) fimbriae, because its structure is very similar to the binding site of cellular glycoprotein receptors.

PROTECTIVE AND ANTIOXIDATIVE EFFECT

HYALURON ACID and CHONDROITIN SULFATE represent the main molecules that make up glycosoaminoglycans (GAG), the polysaccharides that are spread evenly across the urothelium as a cover, and hence prevent the toxic effect of molecules from urine on the epithelium of the urethra. If they are taken orally, through the mechanism of intestinal absorption and renal elimination, they reach the appropriate concentration in the bladder, where they restore the urothelium even in cases of interstitial cystitis.

*INTERSTITIAL CYSTITIS is a chronic syndrome characterized by the progressive destruction of the surface layer of the bladder, which consists of GAG.

VITAMIN C has a known antioxidant effect that helps strengthen the body’s defenses. Lowering the pH of urine increases its acidity and thus contributes to the creation of an unfavorable environment for the proliferation of bacteria.
